Andrew Waters is the executive director of the Spartanburg Area Conservancy, a nationally accredited land trust in Spartanburg South Carolina. A graduate of the Land Trust Alliance’s Executive Director Leadership Academy, Andrew was previously the operations director at The LandTrust for Central North Carolina and land protection director at the Catawba Land Conservancy.
Waters is responsible for the conservation of over 15,000 acres in the Carolinas and has experience working with the USDA’s “Agricultural Conservation Easement Program” (ACEP), USDA’s Local Food Promotion Program (LFPP), and the National Park Service’s “American Battlefield Protection Program” (ABPP), the Scenic Byway Program, the NRCS Environmental Quality Incentive Program, and the Nationl Park Services “Rivers, Trails, and Conservation Assistance” program, among other federal conservation programs. He has also successfully completed over $10 million in grant contracts with the North Carolina Clean Water Management Fund, the North Carolina Agricultural Development, Carolina Farm Stewardship Association, UNFI Foundation, Mary Black Foundation, and other state and local funders.
Waters received his undergraduate degree from UNC-Chapel Hill and an MBA from UNC-Greensboro. He is a native of Hendersonville, NC, and currently resides in Spartanburg with his wife, Anne, and son, Eli.
