Join SPACE Executive Director, Sam Parrott, and Dr. Gillian Newberry, retired botanist from USC Upstate, on a botanical and wildflower identification hike through Peter's Creek! Guests are encouraged to bring water, a notebook or camera, and a walking stick, if desired. Feel free to pack your own picnic to enjoy together after the hike!
Peter's Creek Heritage Preserve is located off Cannon's Campground Road and is home to various wildlife and native plants. A beautiful nature trail winds along the creek up to old mill ruins. Exploring this hidden gem in Spartanburg with the Dr. Newberry, an enthusiastic and passionate botanist, is a rare and special opportunity!
Tickets are free, but space is limited. Reserve your spot today!
We love the Cottonwood Trail and have spent many special days there with friends and family through the years. Give mom a chance to rep her favorite Spartanburg getaway spot with a special limited edition Cottonwood Trail t-shirt made especially for this Mother's Day! These tees will be pre-sale only. All orders must be placed by April 21, 2023.
Plan on bringing the family out to the Cottonwood Trail on Saturday, May 13 and stop by the SPACE table at the Beechwood entrance from noon - 4 PM. SPACE staff will be distributing Cottonwood Trail t-shirts and we'll have a special activity for children to make a custom native wildflower seed mix for mom!
SPACE hosts a multitude of events throughout the year. As an organization focused on land conservation and environmental protection, we’ve launched an initiative to focus on sustainability efforts during our fundraisers and small events. With help from local composting company, Atlas Organics, we’re making composting a priority at our two big fundraisers (Bonnamoo and A Shucking Good Time). Thanks to local artists Frankie Zombie and Maggie MacDonald, you won’t miss the compost cans at these events! Want to help make our events more sustainable? Share a ride and bring your own non-glass tumblers with you. Working together we can make an impact!
