National Trails Day

Celebrate National Trails Day with your friends at SPACE, PAL, Keep OneSpartanburg Beautiful, and the Local Hiker by giving back to the places you love! Join us for a volunteer stewardship morning where you can choose your own adventure—pick up litter along the trails, help pull tires and trash from Lawson’s Fork Creek, or team up to remove invasive plants from the landscape. All supplies will be provided, but please bring your own drinking water and work gloves if you have them. It’s a great way to care for our community, connect with neighbors, and make a visible impact on the Cottonwood Trail we all enjoy. Did we mention there's an afterparty?! After a hard day's work, go get cleaned up then meet us back at the Local Hiker! First drink is on the house for Trails Day Volunteers!
- Option 1: Litter sweep trails - team up in pairs and pick your trail: the River Birch Trail, the Cottonwood Trail, or Wildflower Way!
- Option 2: River Sweep - bring your water shoes and help us pull tires and trash out of Lawson's Fork Creek!
- Option 3: Invasive Species removal - fighting invasive plants is the war that never ends! Help us remove Chinese privet and English ivy along the trails.
Sustainable Events Initiative
SPACE hosts a multitude of events throughout the year. As an organization focused on land conservation and environmental protection, we’ve launched an initiative to focus on sustainability efforts during our fundraisers and small events. With help from local composting company, SMART Recycling, we’re making composting a priority at our events. Thanks to local artists Frankie Zombie and Maggie MacDonald, you won’t miss the compost cans at these events! Want to help make our events more sustainable? Share a ride and bring your own non-glass tumblers with you. Working together we can make an impact!
