Volunteer in Honor of Dr. Robert "Botany Bob" Powell

Join SPACE for a special volunteer day honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Robert "Botany Bob" Powell, one of Spartanburg's most beloved conservation champions. Dr. Powell was an original SPACE Board member and helped establish and name the Cottonwood Trail. His passion for nature and environmental stewardship inspired generations of students throughout his 36-year long career as a Biology professor at Converse College.
Volunteers may choose between litter cleanup or invasive species removal. We will provide tools and supplies, but recommend bringing drinking water and wearing sturdy shoes. Let's roll up our sleeves and celebrate a man who dedicated his life to protecting the environment!

SPACE hosts a multitude of events throughout the year. With help from local composting company, SMART Recycling, we’re making composting a priority at our events.
